From the workshop into the world

In 1989, Ulrich Distel began building the first fibreglass climbing spur in his garage. Aluminium climbing spurs followed in 1998. With their iconic red shell, they became a classic for arborists. With the first climbing spur made of carbon fibre and further developments, Uli was able to establish his and other branded climbing spurs worldwide.

His sons Martin and Johannes have been working in the family business since 2017 and 2021respectively. Together with Uli, they brought production back to Germany and overcame the initial difficulties of in-house production by constantly improving production processes and structures. The Distel brothers are currently focussing on new exciting products, expanding the product range and further developing the Distel brand.
